A Herbie movie car, not the hero/glamor car, and maybe not even a driveable one, is on ebay, and they've cranked the reserve up over 50k

This car was originally built for the second film in the movie series, “Herbie Rides Again,” which was filmed in 1972 and released in 1974, starring Helen Hayes, Ken Berry, Keenan Wynn, and Stefanie Powers. It was then used again in the 1977 film “Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo,” starring Don Knotts and Dean Jones.

The term “blind drive car” is Hollywood jargon referring to a vehicle that appears to be driving on its own.

It retains its original Disney California title, or Pink Slip as they’re called, which lists the vehicle’s VIN, purchase date from 1972, and “DISNEY WALT PRODUCTIONS” as the owner.

The winning bidder of this item has the first option of acquiring two other original movie cars mentioned in this listing- “Giselle,” the 1976 Lancia Scorpion and the "oil squirting" Herbie, which was used in both “Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo” and “Herbie Goes Bananas.” Both are in beautifully restored condition.

I don't understand why this isn't going to some named auction company
