ethical/moral dilemma question. I see this on the front of a truck in a parking lot. Is it wrong to let the air out believing that doing so probably prevents a traffic wreck about to happen on the freeway, with people in a hospital

In cases like this, I ask my advisory committee. You all.

  1. I heard a story a long time ago about Oakland Hell's Angel's fonder Sonny Barger (don't know if it's true) that when one of the brothers was riding with the club and had a bald tire he'd pull out his knife and flatten the tire right there. Guess he didn't want to have any unnecessary accidents on the road either. Yeah, if you can get away with it, let the air out.

  2. I would tend to agree with you, however I would first check the other 3 tires first. If they are all in good shape it is possible this guy might be slowly limping his way to a tire shop to repair a very recent flat on an otherwise good tire. If this is the case, I hope the tire shop will convince him to upgrade his spare at the same time.

    1. I looked at the others, all bald, but only this one had worn through the cords. Good point though. I would not begrudge anyone a crappy spare tire that holds air and will get you to a tire shop on that rare occasion that you have to pull out a spare. But this truck was barely alive, and all the tires were on their last breath.
