According to the salesman for UTI, who wants your tuition money, the median income of auto techs, is $43,000 annually. I call bullshit. So does his own website, and the BLS (38k). Consider the source. Now ask your mechanic friends how much they make

https://www.uti.edu/  has 12 locations, 2 in Arizona, 3 in California, 2 in Texas, one each in Fla, Il, Ma, NC, PA.... so, in the midwest, especially the northern midwest? Nothing.

UTI Universal Technical Institute has a 63% graduation rate. https://www.uti.edu/disclosure/student-graduation-rates

UTI claims 1.2 million jobs in the field by 2022. I call bullshit on that too, as does the BLS who cite 0.75 million in 2014 https://www.bls.gov/ooh/installation-maintenance-and-repair/automotive-service-technicians-and-mechanics.htm

In May 2014, The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) published annual wage estimates for entry-level technicians that ranged from $21,270 to $28,130.
Entry-level technicians in Massachusetts annual wages ranged from $23,870 to $37,430

So, don't believe the hype from schools that need you to enroll in order to stay in business. Be skeptical, and make sure you have a job waiting for you after a year of school so you can pay off the student loan
