In the late 1940s, a WW2 combat Marine made an inconspicuous brothel out of a Richfield gas station at 5777 Hollywood Blvd

Having just been mustered out of the Marines Corps after the Second World War, Scotty Bowers came to Hollywood in 1946. Strikingly handsome and personable, he immediately caught the eye of many of the town’s stars, who encountered him at the gas station where he worked on Hollywood Boulevard.

Scotty began having sex with many of the key players in the movie colony and soon started connecting many of them with his band of beautiful and promiscuous friends, most of them newly discharged from the military.

2011’s Damn You, Scarlett O'Hara goes into the various bedroom shenanigans of Vivien Leigh and her husband Laurence Olivier, and mentions the “bad boys” Leigh would “pick up at Scotty's, a notorious LA brothel that masqueraded as a gas station with one pump and 22 attendants."

William J. Mann’s 2006 book Kate: The Woman Who Was Hepburn, paints a pictures of Scotty’s spot on Hollywood Boulevard, describing a place where “on any given night, fifteen to twenty cars might have been lined up outside Scotty's gas station, but their drivers were nowhere to be seen.”

At the age of 88, Bowers has finally told his story in the new memoir Full Service: My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Life of the Stars, which was released on Tuesday. As the title suggests, this is a juicy tell-all, as his friend Gore Vidal insists on the book jacket. (Out of respect to his former clients, however, Bowers spills the beans only on the sex lives of dead celebrities.)

It's even been made into movie, that premiered at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival

    1. not that I know of, but, there seems to have been a parting of the ways back in the pioneer wagons west days, and some went south and then west... and others headed to the far north to the shores of Lake Superior. There aren't many famous guys with my last name, for sure, but there was a Hollywood director, and this guy Scotty is likely his son. There was a Bowers that made books about aircraft, and another that made a big name for himself in coin collection/grading. There is a Bowers Museum in the LA Area too, and an electrical supply company.
If you search for your last name on Ebay, all sorts of working guys show up.
