the Standard Oil Final Filter, I've never heard of it or seen it before

  1. We had Amoco here, and the 'Final Filter'.
Those tubes had a paper element filter inside with a one way check valve.
Their thing in the 70's was' its nice going with Amoco.' I remember seeing one of their earlier Ad's reading in full, 'it's nice going with Amoco, supercharged with Alcohol.'

    1. Whoa! you've got a good memory! Supercharged... huh. Doesn't alcohol mess with rubber fuel lines, gaskets, and parts in the carbs? Thanks! dang, you're a good source of info!

  2. I got the automotive bug real early. My Father was a mechanic and as long as i can remember, would bring home cars to fix and resell.

I grew up in the passenger seat visiting wrecking yards and private stashes. Service stations and used car yards. In those days the service station or 'servo' had all sorts of free stuff for kids. It was a 'thing to do, collect as much crap as you could and annoy everyone in the car with it all the way home.

For the hell of it I looked up some old Ampol Ads and got a bit of a kick out of it....pure 70's acid infused cheese.
